iPhones - Hype or the Real Thing?
iPhones are an phenomenom! These internet/music/camera multimedia mobile phones are designed and marketed by Apple. It has a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. It is a quad-band mobile phone that uses the GSM standard, and hence has international capability. It supports the EDGE data technology although not 3G as of yet. Whilst many people baulked at this choosing of 2G, Apple said that they wanted to make sure that they had a very small device and good battery life. You can't do that today with 3G. It's just too power hungry, which is why most 3G phones have nowhere near eight hours of talktime. One of the iPhone's big rivals, the Nokia N95, has four hours of talk time on a 2G network, while Apple's device has up to eight hours, according to technical specifications provided by both firms. So, as you see, iphones are ram-jammed with cool features. And all this packed into a slim and sleek body of just 11.6mm thick, 2.4-inches wide, and 4.5-inches tall.
