iPhone Japan

iPhone Japan - The iPhone is to go on sale in Japan for the first time, after Apple struck a deal with Japan's third-largest mobile firm, Softbank. Apple has said that it hopes to sell about 10 million iPhones globally by the end of 2008. But it is unclear whether either of the new deals are exclusive to the Softbank. If it is then it would be a huge blow to Japan's largest mobile phone network, NTT DoCoMo as iPhone Japan style is going to be massive. NTT DoCoMo has about 53 million subscribers - commanding about half of the Japanese market. But Softbank has marketed its phones aggressively and have started fierce competition by cutting rates. During previous launches Apple has given the contract to sell the iPhone exclusively to one network in each country which has prompted many legal battles, especially in China and Germany. Earlier this year Apple and China Mobile called off talks to launch the handset to Chinese consumers amid speculation that the two firms failed to agree on a revenue sharing deal. Analysts said that this meant iPhones were unlikely to be released in China anytime soon. To return to our iphone news home page.
