The iPhone In Europe
Despite the hype surrounding the iPhone in Europe, Apple's bid to dominate the European mobile-phone market is up against some big-hitters. The European market is dominated by local favourites Nokia and Sony Ericsson, who aggressively sell their own multimedia music phones. European consumers are also used to 3G - something the iPhone doesn't offer yet - and have higher expectations for mobile phones than in the U.S. However, no other phone on the market today has the iPhone's touch-screen technology and ease of use. And with more than 1.4 million iPhones already sold in the U.S. the UK's O2 and Germany's T-Mobile have agreed exclusive deals to carry the iPhone on their networks. There is no doubt that the iPhone is a great product. A large number of buyers will be drawn to Apple's simple operating system, which rolls services such as music, Internet, and phoning into an enjoyable experience.
