iPhone 3G

To be really competitive in Europe and Asia, Apple need to make the iphone 3G.
One of the main complaints from the iPhone critics is that it didn't support 3G, which is immensly popular ithroughout Europe and Asia.
A 3G network is the third generation of mobile phone technology. One of the main benefits of 3G networks over 2G is the faster data speeds.
3G networks are also on in areas where cellular service is available, unlike Wi-Fi networks that require close proximity to connect.
One of Apple's main concerns is the amount of power 3G uses, which they claim, drains the battery.
Asked why he hadn’t made the iphone 3G, Apple’s CEO replied that he was waiting for a chipset that would allow him to deliver 3G speeds with something close to the eight hour talk time the slower EDGE-based iPhone gets now.
However, the decision to use the slower 2G standard caused complaints particulary in Europe, where it is standard.
But it now looks as though Apple have found the solution to this problem and it has been announced that a 3G iPhone will be on its way in 2008.
This means that the iphone will be able to go toe-to-toe with its major European and Asian heavyweight competitors.
